Smt. Suvarna Sham Gambhire was born and raised in Kalaburgi in Karnataka. She was from a family of extremely entrepreneurial and affluent farmers. Her father, Venkat Rao Patil, was a prominent and popular member of the society. Since childhood, her father's effect was profound. The manner in which her father carried himself in public life greatly influenced her.
During her school years, Ms. Suvarna was attracted to moral science, mythology, and political topics. She earned a Bachelor of Arts with an English major and a Master of Arts in political science. She married Mr. Sham Gambhire in 2001. Mr. Sham Gambhire was a native of the Maharashtrian town of
Udgir, Latur. Mr. Sham Ghambhire held a master’s degree in food technology and was employed by a reputable Mumbai-based food processing company.
After her marriage, Ms. Suvarna Gambhire relocated to Mumbai and assumed the position of a homemaker. She has two wonderful children named Shashwat and Shrushti. Even though she was quite busy raising her children, she always found time and opportunities to pursue her other passions. She became a qualified yoga instructor. She used to bake cakes and take part in numerous exhibitions. She participated in various community activities.
Suvarna always took a great deal of interest in her husband Sham's work. They used to spend considerable time discussing food processing and baking concepts. Miss Survarna Gambhire was always looking out for an opening to express herself. In 2012, Mr. Sham Gambhire was given the opportunity to work for Royal Ingredients Group, a large European corporation. He was appointed vice president and given sole responsibility for India operations. Since they did not have an office in India, Mr. Sham Gambhire created his workstation at home. Ms. Suvarna Gambhire benefited much from this arrangement, as her husband's physical presence enabled her to pursue other opportunities. In 2013, Ms. Suvarna Gambhire took the plunge into entrepreneurship and created Premia Food Additives (I) Pvt. Ltd. She booked two small Galas in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, and started off with one industrial food mixer and one shifter. She realized there was a substantial need for egg-free cake mixes and began producing them. She would spend the entire day in the processing facility after completing her morning tasks at home. Her husband, Mr. Sham Gambhire, backed her with his expertise and contacts. He stood like a pillar for her and he was a strong support for her in every way. Within two years of launching her business, one of the top Mumbai-based food manufacturing companies placed an order.
Ms. Suvarna Gambhire had to boost manufacturing capacity, therefore in 2017 she relocated to an 8000-square-foot facility in the industrial zone of Taloja, Navi Mumbai. The consumer base was continuously expanding. They were extremely cautious in their approach yet did not hesitate to pursue chances continually. They catered to both small time bakeries and to large corporations. They nurtured a team of employees that were devoted to their work and dedicated to the company.
Recently, Premia Foods will be entering into a joint venture with a global corporation to provide premixes for worldwide markets. To meet this demand, they are building a 20,000 square feet facility in the industrial zone of Wai, Maharashtra.
Premia Foods has a current revenue of Rs 53 crores and aspires to reach Rs 100 crores mark by 2025. They are preparing their children to join the business and intend to list it on the stock exchange.
A woman entrepreneur faces great obstacles. The ideas of society on the roles of women and men, family and children, lack of support at home, men's prejudices, etc. Ms. Suvarna Gambhire managed her family and the organization's expansion needs with finesse. Ms Suvarna Gambhire’s journey has been an unconventional one, demonstrating that if you have gumption, you will make your own destiny.
