Mr Suchit Gadkari was born into a creative household. His grandfather was a painter, his father was a photographer, and his mother was a painter as well. When his family's house was being built in 1972, he was inspired to become an architect. He was a teenager at the time, and he decided to study architecture.
In 1976, he enrolled in Sir J.J. College of Architecture. Sir J.J. College of Architecture is regarded as one of the best architecture colleges in India and is globally recognised. He passed out with First Class Honor.
Mr. Suchit Gadkari used to help his father with his photography. He once covered an event that received favourable media publicity. Interestingly, it was introduced as Sankalpana by Suchit Gadkari and this name stood out to him.
Mr. Suchit Gadkari was hired by a well-known architecture firm. He was assigned a few difficult projects. This provided him with valuable experience and confidence. After nearly two years in the position, he felt the urge to strike out on his own.
In 1984, he founded his own architectural and interior design firm, in the name Sankalpana Design Consultants Pvt Ltd. His first break came from an abandoned project recommended by a family friend. Mr Suchit Gadkari took up the project and successfully delivered much beyond the client's expectations. This project taught him the importance of trust. This also boosted Mr Suchit Gadkari's confidence and equipped him to take on bigger projects.
Mr. Suchit Gadkari began to obtain large-scale projects in the industrial sector. He then needed to put together a team to help him expand. It is never simple to make the step from professional to firm. Scaling up is one of the most difficult issues in the creative industry.
Mr Suchit Gadkari recognised early on that talent and teamwork could only help fuel his growth. He began to develop a flair for identifying the appropriate person for the right task. Mr. Suchit Gadkari appreciated and nurtured his team.. He frequently went out of his way to make sure his juniors were recognised and acknowledged. As a result, his company was able to take on pioneering tasks. Mr Suchit Gadkari managed disagreements effectively and elicited the most creative output from his team members.
